About the Knowledge and Skills Statement Mapping Resource

Each statement is quoted below, with key topics and themes highlighted in bold. The full statement can viewed on the Department of Education website.

Using the mapping resource

Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE): Record your use of Research in Practice resources to build evidence of progression with learning objectives identified in your critical reflection log.

Learning and development leads: Use the mapping resource and add to ASYE folders to guide self-directed learning. Circulate to staff for easy access to the resources online. Embed the resources in Social Work Academy or other development programmes.

Practitioners: Use the mapping resource to support self-directed learning. Record and evidence continued professional development against the KSS and your engagement with theory and research. Select resources to share in group supervision and team meetings.

Supervisors: Guide practitioners to learning resources that will support professional development needs identified in supervision.

Principal Social Workers: Embed the use of Research in Practice materials into development programmes for advanced/consultant social workers.

Many of these learning resources will be valuable against more than one of the ten areas of the KSS.
