This workshop provides an introduction to the language and theory of trauma-informed practice with practical knowledge and skills development for direct work. It will develop structures for thinking and working with parents, children and young people. The workshop will also consider how presenting behaviours may obscure trauma and how trauma experiences effect engagement between practitioners and families, including vicarious trauma experienced by practitioners. It will provide practical means to develop working approaches in this context.
