Wales College: Events

One of the first initiatives of the Wales College has been to offer a series of Development Groups. The aim of these groups has been to engage enthusiastic professionals to work collaboratively together to increase the extent to which research evidence informs policy or practice decisions in their agency. Three parallel groups met - in north Wales, the south east and the south west - over 2006 and 2007 with different topics and target groups in each year. Each of the 22 authorities identified two staff to join each of the Development Groups in each year. The Social Services Improvement Agency  provided the administration for the Development Groups. We have provided on this site the material from these groups - Power Point presentations and other resources - so that the learning can be disseminated more widely across the Wales College network. A further event offered during 2006 was the Link Officer meeting on 8/9 November. This exciting event was designed to develop the work of the Link Officers in Wales. The programme focussed on the role of evidence-informed practice in delivering better outcomes for children and how the Wales College links to the service improvement agenda for Wales. Link Officers have a key role in promoting this good practice and in developing the range of services the Wales College offers. An important part of the event was to share examples and ideas of innovative ways of developing evidence-informed practice within services for children and families. The event was jointly run with by research in practice, in partnership with the Social Service Improvement Agency.

Wales College events have been administered by meinir.williams@WLGA.GOV.UK at the Social Services Improvement Agency
