SCIE partnership

We are proud to be working in partnership with SCIE:(new window) (the UK Social Care Institute for Excellence) enabling our website to be freely available to all. In addition, direct links are being made with Social Care OnLine:(new window).

what is SCIE?

SCIE was launched in October 2001 under the Care Standards Act 2000 as part of the Government's drive to improve social care. SCIE is an independent registered charity, governed by a board of trustees. Their role is to develop and promote knowledge about good practice in social care.

SCIE's aim is to improve the experience of people who use social care by developing and promoting knowledge about good practice in the sector. Using knowledge gathered from diverse sources and a broad range of people and organisations, they develop resources which they share freely, supporting those working in social care and empowering service users.

what is Social Care On Line?

Social Care On Line is a free online resource owned and managed by SCIE. It provides a single point of access to an extensive range of social care knowledge from around the world, including practice information, skills tutorials, and around 70,000 abstracts of books, reports, research papers, official publications and articles. It is a pivotal tool for social work students, managers, academics, front line practitioners and service users. Content is drawn from a range of resources including journal articles, websites, research reviews, legislation and government documents, and service user knowledge.
