Aim of the study is to synthesise published evidence on the effectiveness of training and procedural interventions aimed at improving the identification and management of child abuse and neglect by health professionals. Procedural interventions are those put in place to guide clinicians in identifying and dealing with child abuse. These included the introduction of structured forms, flowcharts etc. the aim of which was to improve documentation of case details and clinical findings and to encourage staff to consider the possibility of child abuse in cases of childhood injury. The evaluations of training programmes included conventional teaching sessions; intensive programmes; interactive training , workshops, focus groups and computer assisted learning.
