what is a change project?

A Change Project is a method of intensive engagement, developed by us which links professionals to a research process in order to promote evidence-informed practice (EIP.) With a typical cycle of three years, Change Projects

  • engage a set of practitioners in exploring the evidence base around a particular problem or topic
  • bring together practice knowledge alongside research evidence and
  • seek to find solutions in order to improve practice through the application of evidence-informed approaches.

Typically a group of ten professionals from ten different agencies are recruited to tackle a particular issue. Over the course of 8 – 12 months they will work together to develop thinking and produce a set of practical materials, often an Action Pack, which crystallises the collective learning.

The Action Pack is subsequently formally piloted with another group of ten agencies. It is amended as a result of the pilot and finally published as a Handbook. The Handbook consists of practical guidance, exercises and ideas accompanied by audio-visual materials and interactive learning tools and is then available to be used by all agencies in our network, supported by our Regional Lead staff.
