performance pointers
NI 62 - Stability of placements of looked after children: number of moves
NI 62 - Stability of placements of looked after children: number of moves A successful, stable placement is central to supporting the needs of children in care. Indeed, stability of placement is associated with a range of better outcomes for looked after children. However, performance on this topic has remained largely static for the past six years.

This briefing identifies 35 pointer questions drawn from research about what contributes to stable placements. These will be useful for local authorities to consider when planning how to improve their results for this indicator.

**As this first issue is a pilot, we want to know what you think! What works, what doesn't work, and what would you like to see in the next Performance Pointers? To let us know, please click on the 'evaluation' button at the top right-hand corner of this page, and fill out our five-minute questionnaire. Results of this survey will be posted on our website at the end of August 2008.**

charity donation
In recognition of our role in the wider global community, research in practice donates 25% of proceeds of publication sales to a different international project each year. For 2008 we will be contributing to AMIED (Alwar Mewat Institute of Education and Development), which is supported by Action Aid, to buy books and other resources for village schools in a rural area of Rajastan in the south west of India.
