Family Justice Review

Family Justice Review:

The Family Justice Review was published in November (available in full here). You can see our RPU (here) for our summary of key recommendations. This review’s proposals are intended to work in tandem with the Munro review and, like Munro, David Norgrove highlights the need to develop social workers’ professional expertise and court skills in order to reduce delay and improve outcomes in public law cases in the family courts.

These are issues we have been working on, in collaboration with our network, for some time.

November’s Research and Policy Update provides a summary of key recommendations made by the review.

  • The Evidence Matters Handbook (here), and the accompanying learning events and in house workshops, are tailored to address the issue of social work expertise in the family court.
  • Our Analysis and Critical Thinking in Assessment resources (here): Good analytical assessment is an essential foundation for robust court reports
  • Frontline briefings (here): succinct briefings that provide a concise source of research for evidence-informed court reports

We have also produced a flyer detailing our resources that support the Family Justice Review, which you can find in our Toolkit, or here.
