Running Away: What the research tells us about those who run away and positive interventions

Local Authorities are required to assess whether appropriate systems, procedures and protocols are in place to identify the levels of running away in their area, and whether the response is appropriate to the needs of young people who run away. Young runaways are particularly at risk of offending, substance misuse and sexual exploitation. This workshop will consider what research tells us about those who run away, the views of children and young people and look at positive interventions. This research messages workshop is for: Social workers, residential staff, YOS workers, safeguarding teams, specialist practitioners and any other staff working with children and young people who are at risk of running away.
