learning events
what are learning events?
The research in practice Learning Events Programme (LEP) is an innovative series of conferences and workshops designed to support agencies in delivering evidence-informed practice. The LEP showcases some of the most dynamic, practice-focused research within the children and families field, and we work closely with our facilitators to ensure vibrant events that have improved outcomes for children with additional needs at heart.
who are our learning events aimed at?
This year’s programme explicitly reflects the multidisciplinary environment found in Children’s Services. Most workshops and conferences are of relevance to social care professionals, healthcare workers, and practitioners or policy-makers in education.
Places on the LEP belong solely to our Partner agencies. Link Officers within each Partner agency decide how to allocate the available places. To find out if you are a Partner agency and to find your Link Officer’s details go to our network.
The Learning Events Programme 2008/09
The Learning Events Programme 08/09 gives details of forthcoming events and guidance on who is most likely to benefit from the learning. All events relate research findings and research methods to everyday practice and policy, building in opportunities to reflect and plan for action back at work. Information about booking places on learning events can be found on the Learning Events Programme webpage.
learning events and your continuing professional development
All our Learning Events are certified and will contribute one day, or six hours, to the Post Registration Training and Learning required for re-registration and continuing professional development for social workers, teachers and other education professionals. The events may also count toward Post Qualifying Awards (at the discretion of the local awarding body) or continuing professional development in other occupations.
We are keeping abreast of the changes with the GSCC General Social Care Council : (new window) regarding re-registration. Please see our guidelines around PRTL and Continuing Professional Development for further details.
learning events – a partnership approach
At research in practice we continually review our approach to the delivery of the LEP. We address national agendas in the context of the needs of our network. As in all aspects of our service delivery, research in practice has a stated commitment to listen to all Partners - this is one of our distinguishing features and makes our work a true partnership.
