Fit
for the Future the
Change Projects programme
The research in practice network is committed to
collaborative enterprise in seeking to embed evidence-informed
practice within the practice and policy of its
Partner agencies. Over the last eight years of
our work Change Projects have proved highly effective
in engaging enthusiastic professionals who are
willing to commit time and knowledge to the development
process. The rewards of such investment are invaluable
for personal and professional development:
'I
felt as though we achieved what we set out to
achieve and got the recognition as well, and you
don't very often get recognition at work so that's
nice!' Participant in the NIFTY project
and hugely
beneficial for the organisation as a whole:
'As
a follow up to the change project I attended,
a proposal has been pulled together to make this
approach more widely available to staff and provide
them with some support in projects they wish to
undertake.' Participant in the NIFTY project
what
makes our change projects distinct? informed
project design The ideas
for project topics come through feedback from
the network. We then consult widely across all
related academic and professional disciplines
to ensure the project design is going to deliver
the best results for the network. collaborative
learning
A core
group of enthusiastic and committed individuals
is then selected from the network to work over
two years to explore, develop and produce learning
in formats that will benefit the whole network.
The core group will consist of individuals who
are best placed to commit the time and skills
to benefit the research in practice network as a whole, and whose agencies provide
tangible support for them to do so.
expert
facilitation
The network
invests in change projects by recruiting expert
facilitators to guide the group. Our relationships
with both the research and practice world mean
our contacts are second to none.
personal
support between meetings
A key member
of the research in practice staff will lead and support the project alongside
the facilitator. Time is built into the project
design to offer support between meetings and events.
peer
support Colleagues
from other agencies involved in the core group
are encouraged to work together and maintain contact
between meetings and events. We can arrange email-groups
and regional clusters to enable this. regular
feedback The whole
network gets regular feedback from the core group
through the NetWork newsletter, website and special
events. launch
and piloting The entire
network benefits from the invitation to pilot
the learning that the core group has developed
and then feed back to refine the guides, tools
and implementation methods. re-write
and dissemination The network
benefits from free copies of high quality printed
products for dissemination across the network.
We also support this process through learning
events, launch events, and our website. continuing
support: Champions and research in practice staff
We keep
our projects alive by identifying champions from
our Partner agencies who are encouraged to share
their learning widely across the network. We encourage
the trading of learning to benefit all. Wherever
possible research in practice's
policy staff will also help your individual agencies
work through particular challenges to ensure that
this approach to learning continues to grow within
your agency.
